The dialogue between the natural and the artificial is a dominant theme in Patricia Urquiola’s work and aesthetics. It is particularly visible in the Foliage collection, a family of soft chairs created especially for residential use. The key players are a two-seater sofa and an armchair, that seem to have grown – naturally.
The painted metal frame provides support for a comfortable seat reminiscent of the crown of a tree, with top-stitched leaves. The covers are available in cloth or Trevira fabrics in a variety of shades that can be combined in original ways with the white, black or red legs.
In 2016 the Foliage sofa and armchair by Patricia Urquiola is available in three new Memphis fabrics – Letraset, Schizzo and Burundi – designed by Ettore Sottsass and Nathalie du Pasquier.
