Founded in 2010, Lambert & Fils is a contemporary lighting studio that creates original collections and collaborates with emerging designers around the world. Preserving the bond between design and making, all lighting is handmade in the Lambert & Fils atelier in the heart of Montreal.
Annika Rowson, co-owner & award winning kitchen designer from Rowson Kitchens in New Plymouth has completed a beautiful villa renovation located in Remuera, Auckland using two Lambert & Fils, Laurent pendants.
“The brief was to design an elegant yet contemporary kitchen that opposed the standard approach to design that we frequently see in this heritage shaker style cabinetry”. “The island was designed to not have seating & to be a block form, to create a solid statement in the space, to anchor in the generous stud height”.
Creating a tension of opposites between the solid stone island and the finesse of the suspended hand made glass globe pendants. The Laurent is compiled of a series of thin forms complemented by the hand made globes — moving between line, surface, and volume.
Through its exploration of new design technologies, Lambert & Fils investigates the many shapes of light—meditating on voids, volumes and the importance of matiere premiere—materials as a point of origin.
These forms combine in endless patterns, making it possible for an installation of Laurent lamps to inhabit any space with subtlety and quiet strength. Each sphere is handblown in opaline glass, & the frame can be custom made in either polished brass or nickel plated steel, or powder coated aluminium which offers several colour options to choose from.
